I just wanted to touch base with you for some preliminary information and to get my email address set up with your mail program so it doesn’t go into your spam/junk folder.

On Tuesday, April 9th we will have our New Player Clinic @ Children's
6 PM – ages 5 to 9 – this session is for new lacrosse players or players born in 2019 that are new to competition.
7 PM – ages 10 to 14 – this session is for new lacrosse players or players who have attended our TRY Lacrosse sessions this year.
If your player has been out to our TRY LACROSSE sessions this year, it will be the same basic format. However, it is still an opportunity to work on those basic skills. If you cannot make it Tuesday, no worries! (addressed below)

On Wednesday, April 9th we will have a Goalie Clinic @ Children's
6 PM – ages 5 to 9
7 PM – ages 10-14
If any player is wishing to play goalie, or try the position, please let me know. Goaltending in box lacrosse looks like hockey, but is a bit different. I teach box lacrosse goaltending and players I have worked with have gone on to be successful. We will supply the equipment except a helmet and gloves. We already have one U7 player interested in goalie! If your player is interested in playing goalie, please see our Goaltending Policy where you can receive a 50% rebate: https://www.oshawablueknights.ca/goaltender-rebate-program-for-city-league

Combined Division - unfortunately, we do not have enough players for a full U13 or U15 division therefore we will integrate the two age groups into a Bantam division. We did this a few years ago with much success. Please note that this is strictly enforced a no-contact division to start, only stick checking is allowed. However, it is our goal to teach contact, but only according to the rules and only in specific situations. Once we are convinced the players understand how box lacrosse contact works, we may introduce it into games. We recognize that some U13 players, either new or coming from U11, can be a bit shy in practices and games and we will make sure that this is addressed in team formations. E.g., we would ensure competitive lines are created so that players play against equally matched opponents.

Coaching U13/15 Bantam – if anyone is interested in coaching U9/11 please let me know ASAP. Once I have a list, I will send out more information. Coaching City League is very easy, all the practices are clinic-style and you can learn as you go.

U13/15 Bantam Girls – we have a few young ladies register this year and we believe we have enough for form a combined U11/13 City League team that will play in-season games against U11 All-Star teams. This is brand new for us, so please stand by for more information about this.

First Week of U13/15 Bantam – the first two dates of U13/15 are skills evaluations clinics. While we generally place players in the own neighbourhood teams (East End, West Side, North Ridges, & Lakeview) we also want to ensure the teams are balanced competitively. We are still putting things together, but the first week is Tuesday, April 16th & Thursday, April 18th, 7 PM at Children’s Arena. By Thursday, April 18th , I should have the full schedule ready for you.
