Recreational Volunteer Rebate Program for Parent/Guardian Volunteers
“It is claimed in some clubs that without volunteers the sport would not exist. In an era of increasing professionalism at the elite level of sport, this is a salutary reminder of the essence of this sector. For many sports there is little presence in either the public or commercial sectors, so the voluntary sector is the backbone to their existence.” -A report for Sport England, July 2003
Without volunteers Oshawa Minor Lacrosse would cease to exist, therefore volunteers are regarded as the most highly prized asset. This means OMLA will take every effort to recruit, reward, and retain good volunteers. As part of the recruitment and reward aspect, good volunteers with the recreational program will be eligible for rebate on the base registration cost upon the successful completion of the position in the program being volunteered for. (see our Volunteer Positions page). The remuneration rate is a percentage of the base registration cost as follows:
Position | Rebate Rate |
Rec Program Convenor | 25% |
Rec Head Coach | 20% |
Rec Assistant Coach | 15% (max. 2 per team) |
Rec Trainer | 15% (qualifications required) |
*** NOTE: Volunteer Rebates are limited to one per family and cannot be combined.
The objective for our recreational volunteer rebate program is to grow the game and improve equitable access to the sport to as many participants as possible. The intent is to increase engagement by reducing financial barriers and providing incentive to those who might not have otherwise volunteered their time.
The job must be successfully completed before the rebate is granted. Abandoning the position or being suspended as the result of disciplinary issues, etc., disqualifies the candidate from being eligible for the rebate. The OMLA Board of Directors will be the authority in determining disputes of eligibility.
